Your food.
Your privacy.

Melo is operated by Vaishnavi1 LLC. This policy explains what information we handle, why we use it, and the choices you have.

Who we are and who can use Melo

Vaishnavi1 LLC operates Melo. Contact support@eatmelo.app for support, questions about this policy, or privacy requests.

Melo is for ages 13 and older. Ages 13–17 can use the food diary and habit tools without calorie budgets, macro targets, weight-change plans or adult BMI scoring. For personal nutrition guidance, speak with a parent or guardian and a qualified health professional.

We do not knowingly provide accounts to children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and remove it. A parent or guardian may contact us about a minor’s account. Additional consent or access requirements may apply under local law.

Records and photos

Your profile, goals, meal entries, weight history and chosen meal, progress and profile photos are saved on your iPhone. These can include your name, birthdate, body measurements, diet and activity preferences, nutrition targets and the information you enter about your food.

When you sync or save progress to an account, Melo sends your records and available meal, progress and profile photos to account storage. Photos are kept as private account assets, separate from community posts. Saving or removing a profile photo also starts sync. There is currently no separate photo-backup switch. Turning AI off does not turn off photo transfers during sync.

Online features can use a persistent guest account. Registered accounts may also hold an email address, username, password security data or Apple/Google sign-in identifiers when those services are configured. Melo uses account and session information to authenticate access and associate records with you.

Your profile photo

You can choose a custom profile photo in Profile. Melo prepares a smaller copy for display and private account sync. Your photo is not a community post and is not shared with Family members.

When Google sign-in is configured, Melo saves the picture link supplied with your verified Google account. To display that picture, your iPhone requests the image from Google, which receives the request and ordinary network information. The Google image is not saved as a Melo photo backup.

A custom photo takes priority over your Google picture. You can remove the displayed photo or choose to use your Google picture again. Removing it in Melo does not remove the picture from your Google account. Changes to an older server copy require a successful sync; keep originals until sync completes.

AI analysis and food lookup

With your permission, food photos, nutrition-label images, text read from labels and food descriptions are sent through Melo to OpenAI to estimate nutrition. Taking or choosing a photo starts analysis when AI is enabled. The request does not automatically include your account name, body measurements or Apple Health history, but an image or description you provide may itself contain personal information.

The analysis service does not save the raw input into Melo’s meal database or photo storage. Results you confirm can become saved meal records, and a saved photo can separately transfer during account sync. OpenAI handles submitted information under its applicable service terms and privacy practices. Melo does not promise zero provider retention. See OpenAI’s privacy policy. Cancelling a request cannot retract information already sent.

Barcode lookup sends the barcode number through Melo to Open Food Facts and does not call OpenAI. Food searches use Open Food Facts or USDA FoodData Central when configured. These providers receive the query and network information associated with the request. Short-lived lookup caches improve speed; a cache freshness window is not a guaranteed deletion time.

Apple Health, widgets and reminders

Apple Health is optional. You choose what Melo can read or write in iOS. With permission, Melo can read body weights and today’s active energy and write confirmed meal nutrition. Imported weights become Melo records and may be included in account sync and nutrition summaries. Imported active energy remains on the iPhone. Health information is not used for advertising.

Widgets use a local summary of today’s calories, targets, macros and streak. They do not directly collect data over the network. Optional local reminders use notification preferences on the device. Information displayed on a widget or notification may be visible on your screen.

If you enable remote group notifications where available, Melo uses a device token and account association to send generic alerts through Apple. You can switch these notifications off in Melo or iOS. Melo does not include your food diary or health records in the alert.

Groups, purchases and support

When you post in a group, permitted members can see the post, your displayed name or username and related activity. Melo stores group membership, invitations, reports and blocks to operate these features. Family membership shares membership and access information, not your private nutrition history or photos.

Apple manages app purchases. Melo verifies transaction information and associates subscription status and expiry with your account. Melo’s app does not collect payment-card details. Usage counts and activity records support feature limits, account operation and abuse prevention.

A feedback draft stays on the phone until you send it. Sending stores your written message, account identifier and receipt in Melo support storage. Meals and photos are not attached automatically. Authorised support review may use private exports. Email support opens your mail app, where you choose whether to send; those messages and recipient copies are separate from app records.

Storage, deletion and backups

Editing or removing a local entry does not immediately change an older server copy; a successful sync is needed. Account deletion removes the account and associated records from the active service and queues private photo cleanup. A failed or unfinished cleanup may remain pending. A separate local reset can also fail and require a retry.

Signing out clears local app records after a successful reset, but it is not server-account deletion. Deleting a Melo account does not cancel an Apple subscription, revoke another provider account, erase Apple Health history, remove sent email or recall files you have shared.

We retain account records to provide the service until you remove them or delete your account. Support correspondence is retained as needed to handle your request. Limited security, purchase, and deletion records may be retained to prevent abuse, honor deletion during recovery, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. Recovery copies, if retained, are restricted to recovery and do not make deleted accounts accessible through the app. Deletion is not a promise of immediate physical erasure from every storage medium or provider system.

Melo’s app service runs on Google Cloud in the United States. Information may be processed outside your country by Melo and the providers needed to operate the service. We use HTTPS, access controls and device file protection. Authorized operational access is limited to service administration and support. These controls are not end-to-end encryption, and no storage or transmission system is completely secure.

Your choices and requests

You can edit entries, turn AI analysis off in Preferences, change Health permissions in iOS, manage reminders, export a nutrition summary and request account deletion in Profile. Exported summaries are not a complete account archive. Keep original photos and unsynced records until a transfer is confirmed.

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your information, withdraw consent, object to certain processing, or contact a privacy regulator. Send requests to support@eatmelo.app. We may ask for information needed to verify your account and request, and respond as required by applicable law. Do not email passwords or unnecessary health records. Consent changes affect future requests; they cannot recall information already transmitted.

This website has no sign-up form, advertising trackers or analytics integration. The hosting providers may process ordinary request information, such as an IP address, to deliver and protect the website. The site is hosted through OpenAI Sites and Cloudflare; the app server uses Google Cloud. Melo does not sell your personal information or use Health information for targeted advertising. App screenshots on this website use fictional data. We will update this policy when practices change and provide additional notice when required.
